 Information below applies to United Mileage Upgrade Awards requested through January 11, 2010. For requests made on/after January 12, 2010, mileage requirements are generally being reduced and a co-pay will apply. You will also be able to request upgrades from all Business class fares and most Economy class fares. Learn more

| Upgrade availability |
Upgrade seats are dependent upon demand for paid premium fares and may not always be available. In general, many first or business class bookings do not occur until a week or two before departure, so upgrade seats may not be available until closer to your flight date. Upgrades may only be requested once your ticket has been issued. |
| Upgrade clearance times and waitlists |
Upgrades will be confirmed if seats are available at time of request, otherwise, you will be placed on a waitlist. You can check the status of your request in My Itineraries.
If upgrade seats become available, the waitlist will be processed based on your elite status, ticketed booking class and time of request, in that order. If your upgrade request has not cleared by the time you check in, you will be placed on the Upgrade List when you check-in. Available premium seats will be allocated at the gate according to your MileagePlus status and booking class. |

Flights marketed and operated by United and United Express. Upgrades on United operated flights marketed by other airlines and on United-marketed codeshare flights operated by other airlines is not permitted. |

| Miles required |
Required mileage amounts vary depending on your origin and destination and booking class. Fewer miles are required to upgrade from full-fare Economy
(Y and B booking classes).
See United Mileage Upgrade Award chart for details. All upgrades are one-way. If fare rules for your purchased fare permits stopovers, up to two stopovers are permitted per one-way Mileage Upgrade Award and additional miles are not required.
When travel originates in Asia, Australia, Europe or Latin America and entails routing via the U.S., two awards are required: one to/from the U.S., and another between the U.S. and your final destination. |

Sponsoring upgrade for another traveler/
transferability |
You may redeem miles to sponsor a United Mileage Upgrade Award for another traveler, regardless of whether the traveler has the same last name as the sponsor or a different last name.
